Get ready.

I smell a lawsuit....
And the plot thickens.
I can't say this helps me grasp the meaning of the commercial, but here is a translation of the Japanese commercial, courtesy of http://web.tampabay.rr.com/starchsr/anabuki.htm:
Anabukikonten is "Anabuki Construction Co." and their mascot seems to be
Anabukinchan! (-chan means little girl )
During this time the narrator says, "This is Anabuki Construction
Company's Campaign Girl, Anabukin-chan! She tries to be good just like
any good girl, this Anabukin-chan!"
Then it introduces everyone, but I can't make out the kanji after each
name because they are too small/blurry. The second one is "sai" though.
* Anabukinchan (you know her already!)
* Usagi (rabbit!)
* Kuma (bear!)
* Shika (deer!)
* Ookami (wolf!)
During this time the narrator is saying "What's this? It seems that the
animals of the forest are coming to join her! Everyone is in good
spirits!"
Then the narrator shouts "Sei no!" which means a song is coming up!
Everyone: Anabukin-chan! Anabukinchan, [go for it]!
Anabukin-chan: Hai! Okay!
Yume ga fukuramu Expanding dreams,
Sa-basumashon Service mansion!
Kitai ga fukuramu Expanding hopes,
Sa-basumashon Service mansion!
Mune no fukuramu Expanding chests,
Fukuramu fukuramu Expanding, expanding,Wow! Wow!
Sa-basumashon! Service mansion!
Then at the end, "ii na sa-bisu" which means "Good service!" And their
number, 0120-117-384, and their url, http://www.anabuki.co.jp/.
The raccoon is actually not a raccoon but a Tanuki, which is the Japanese
equivalent and actually considered a badger, not a raccoon. Tanuki have
classically been considered to be possessing of incredibly large balls
(kindama in Japanese - golden jewels), which they can use to perform great
feats of magic and disguise. I recommend the film Heisei Tanuki Gassen Pon
Poko (animated - Studio Ghibli (Totoro)) if you want to learn more about
Tanuki.
Also, there is a wikipedia post on the commercial, and various other results if you search google.

Random discussion follow up.
For your viewing pleasure, here is one of the Japanese commercials that Sop so enjoys.
And here is a truly excellent music video. A must see.
And here is a truly excellent music video. A must see.
It was over before it even began.
On Saturday night, Golaso won twice in one game. Due to a lack of females on the other team, there was a forfeit before the game started. The other team still wanted the Golaso experience, so we agreed to scrimmage the young lads. In the scrimmage, Golaso had an excellent showing with a 4-2 victory.
Golaso members present included: Damen, Allison, Christy, Amy, Carrie, Jeff, Adam, Sop, Devin, and Jen.
Golasos were scored by: Jeff, Adam (x2), and a fellow from the other team who mistakenly scored on his own keeper. That's ok. We'll take those goals too.
The usual festivities followed, and Golaso members were treated to a supremely horrible night of Karaoke. It really made the team a bit grumpy to listen to such horrendous music.
And so ends the 2nd session. Excellent season, Golaso!

Golaso, we need to talk.
OK, so we're in a bit of a slump. No biggie. But what we have coming up this weekend is the final game of the 2nd session. The championship, if you will.
It may not be a REAL championship, but let's treat it like one. Therefore, posts this week will be strictly strategic.
Let's begin with the following video. Learn it, live it, love it. We expect to see some similar shots on Saturday night.

Random facts.
For those who were at the bar after the game, here is a follow up on some of the discussions:

- Louis Armstrong sung "What a Wonderful World." He was a trumpet player too, but he couldn't do them both at the same time. That would be crazy.

- There is a disorder in which people taste colors and smell numbers and crazy stuff like that. No word on what the color brown tastes like, though. If you're bored, you can read here about synesthesia.
- You can find demotivational posters at www.despair.com.

Saturday night recap.
In a surprising turn of events, Golaso lost 3-2 on Saturday night. Post game analysis revealed that the loss could have been due to several potential causes:
- A full moon.

- Lingering anchovies in players' systems.

- Fatigue from the previous night's "World's Strongest Man" competition.

Goals were scored by: Lauren and Christy.
Also, Sop discovered that he can indeed kick the top of the goal. Although that talent didn't score us any points, we're sure it will come in handy sometime.

Hear ye, hear ye!
This is an official decree from Sop to watch the following video before tonight's game. Turn up your speakers and please enjoy.
