Saturday night recap.

Yeah, so we won 6-1. Not a big deal-- we're used to kicking ass. What makes it remarkable, though, is that we won even though we were competing with a little event called St. Patrick's Day.

Sadly, we lost at least 3 players to the festivities. But Blogaso doesn't like to leave anyone out, so we will report on what those fellows were doing as well. While Golaso was playing some phenomenal soccer, here's what our Irish teammates were doing:

Back on the soccer field, Devin and Jeff did the guys proud by scoring 2 goals each. Not to be outdone, Lauren scored 2 goals as well before she headed out for the St. Patrick's Day festivities.

With their 2 goals each, we'll award the title of co-MVPs to Lauren, Jeff and Devin. Congratulations. You get a jpg of a silver trophy. You can even download it to your very own computer.

With their not showing up for the game, we'll award the green shoe to co-leprechauns Adam, Alex, and Sop. Congratulations. You get a jpg of a green shoe. It could even be your new desktop image.

Until next time,
GOLASO!

Saturday night recap.

Golaso had another stellar showing on Saturday night. We played a late game to a full house:

And we had our favorite referee, Roberto:

Our opponents were tough, but Golaso prevailed in a 3-1 victory. Here's an action shot of Adam using his footskills to outmaneuver the other team. Adam was MVP with 2 goals in this game.

Lauren also had some fabulous shots on goal.

Our defense had a strong game. It was probably because Carrie broke out her sports goggles.

Afterward, all the boys posed for a shot.

Bottom row, L to R: Jeff, Damen, Devin.
Top row, L to R: Alex, Sop, Adam.

See you Saturday for a super St. Patrick's Day game!

Blogaso time machine.

Imagine that it is a week ago, and that this post is on time....

If you need help transporting yourself back 1 week, you can borrow Devin's DeLorean.

On 3/3, Golaso had an astounding 12-2 victory. We employed a new strategy and had 2 lines of players. Team A scored 5 points, with goals by Alex, Christy, Jen, and 2 by Adam. The B Team scored 5 goals, with goals by Lauren, Jeff (2) and Devin (2).

And now we'll take questions.

Q: So where did those other 2 goals come from?

A: Get this- our keeper maxed out on goals too, with Damen scoring 2. That really made the other keeper mad, but we can't help it if we have the best keeper this side of the Mississippi.

Q: Why did Golaso run up the score on the other team?

A: The stakes were high. Losing line had to buy the other line beer. It was almost a done deal for the A team to be drinking free, but Team B came back and scored 2 goals in the last 2 minutes.

Q: So did the new strategy work?

A: Like a charm. But the A team and the B team had trouble letting the competition go after the game was over. It lead to a little schoolyard brawl.

Q: Who won the brawl?

A: Team A won. Team B kept losing focus, complaining that Alex's sweatshirt was looking at them funny.

Q: Is Golaso getting along again?

A: We got a few beers in us, and we were best friends again.

Q: Are there any more good pictures from that night?

A:

They always come back.

Apparently, Alex has a good reason for missing 2nd session. He was training with Pelé. OK, Alex, just bring in a note with Pelé's signature and you're excused.

Welcome back, you crazy kidd.

There's just more of him to love.

So there's been some buzz in the soccer world about Ronaldinho putting on a few pounds. This is based on pictures taken of him after the Feb 21 loss to Liverpool. Below are some of the "Before" and "After" pictures that were all over the Spanish press.

Ronaldinho used these rumors as motivation to play a stellar game on Feb 25 in a 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao.

Who says you can't be fat AND awesome?
